Living Attentively | Five Ways to Remain Available to God
October Anchor Word: AVAILABLE | The Becoming
What does it mean to live a life that remains available to God?
Not simply to acknowledge His presence during moments of worship or prayer, but to recognize His work in the ordinary moments of our everyday lives.
As we conclude our October study on Available, we’re considering what it means to live attentively—to surrender our plans, remain prayerful, recognize opportunities, and follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Scripture reminds us that God’s ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8–9). We don’t always understand what He is doing, but we can trust that He is at work.
Living attentively means recognizing that our days are not simply a series of responsibilities, conversations, and interruptions. They are opportunities to participate in God’s purpose.
In this week’s episode, we explore five biblical practices for remaining available to God:
Surrender your plans to Him daily.
Remain attentive to the opportunities He places before you.
Maintain a posture of prayer throughout your day.
Follow the Holy Spirit’s guidance.
Look to Jesus as your example.
As we prepare to move into November’s study on Obedience, we’re reminded that availability is only the beginning. When God directs our steps, we must also be willing to follow.
A Question for Reflection
What if the interruption in your plans today is an invitation to participate in God’s purpose?
