Do You Believe Peace Is Possible For You?

Do you really believe the peace of God is possible for you?

No, really.

Do you?

I’ve loved God for as long as I can remember.

I grew up in church. I know how to pray. I know the stories. I know what it means to fight spiritual battles and cling to Jesus.

But for a long time, I didn’t know how to live in His peace.

I desperately wanted freedom from anxiety.

I prayed for it.

I asked God for it.

Yet peace always felt just out of reach.

I wondered if maybe God was testing me.

Maybe I wasn’t a “good enough” Christian.

Maybe I needed stronger faith, more discipline, or longer prayers before God would finally give me the peace I longed for.

Then something began to change.

Not overnight.

Slowly.

Almost without me realizing it.

I started reading God’s Word—not just to check a box, but to know Him.

I began praying consistently and intentionally.

I started bringing specific requests before God and leaving them there instead of carrying them back with me.

And I noticed something.

When I surrendered my plans to God’s will instead of asking Him to bless mine, something inside me shifted.

The more I aligned my life with His voice, His Word, and His direction, the quieter my soul became.

I learned to wait.

If I didn’t have clear direction, I stopped forcing an answer.

I kept praying.

I stopped trying to connect all the dots myself.

I stopped manipulating circumstances to make my plans work.

Instead…

I trusted.

And somewhere along the way…

The peace came.

I can’t tell you the exact day anxiety loosened its grip.

There wasn’t a dramatic moment.

One day I simply realized it no longer ruled me.

I prayed at night and handed my worries to God.

I prayed in the morning before the day began.

I prayed while washing dishes.

While folding laundry.

I prayed over the children who would wear those clothes.

I prayed over the family gathered around those plates.

Prayer became less like an emergency response…

and more like the atmosphere I lived in.

My heart changed.

The constant hurry faded.

The urgency lifted.

The panic that once followed every unexpected problem slowly disappeared.

Not because life became easier.

It didn’t.

The struggles still came.

The interruptions still happened.

The hard seasons still found us.

But my response was different.

Instead of believing everything depended on me…

I trusted the One everything already depended on.

That’s when I finally understood what Paul meant when he wrote about “the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding.”

It wasn’t peace because life was calm.

It was peace because Christ was present.

Friend, if you’re wondering whether that kind of peace is possible for you…

I want you to know this:

It is.

Not because you’ll eventually become the perfect Christian.

Not because your circumstances will suddenly improve.

But because the Prince of Peace still meets surrendered hearts today.
