FAITH: The Distance Between What God Said and What You See
What happens to your faith when you pray—and the answer isn't the one you hoped for?
Maybe it's a Tuesday afternoon. You're sitting at a red light when the text you've been waiting for finally comes. You prayed about this. You trusted God with it. But the answer on your screen isn't what you expected.
And suddenly the questions begin:
Did God hear me?
Why didn't He answer the way I prayed?
Is something wrong with my faith?
This week on Known & Becoming, we're beginning Season Two and our September study of FAITH in Hebrews 11.
Hebrews 11:1 tells us that faith is “the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen,” and Hebrews 11:6 tells us that “without faith it is impossible to please Him.”
So what does God actually say faith is? And why is faith necessary for a life that pleases Him?
Together, we'll talk about trusting God when we cannot see what He is doing, what happens when we confuse faith in God with faith in a particular outcome, and why our circumstances should never become the report card by which we grade the faithfulness of God.
Because sometimes we keep asking God to turn on the lights when He is asking us to take His hand and walk in the dark.
